How Singing Is Done For Vocal Competitions

By Walter Brooks

The activity of singing has always been loved by man since the before. Before they came out of caves and lived in forest, the early neanderthals had learned how to sing from the sound of nature around them. Specifically how birds sound and sing along with each other while they are in mid air or when perched upon a branch of a tree. These sounds had stirred the imagination and wonder of man since long ago.

Singing itself is the act of making music through the use of ones voice by the use of several different vocal techniques. A person who is called a singer is also called a vocalist and often times participate in vocal competitions to show off the talent and training that has had by this person. Often times in competitions, it is only done a solo act without any accompaniments.

The reason as to why one may want to sing is as vast as the stars when there is a clear night. Two kinds of singing though is called formal way and the informal way. The formal way is when participates in contest or when there are judges to mark on how well the performer might have done and this could also be when just singing in concerts as well. When singing informally, this is usually seen when in comfortable company and is at home.

Another place were one can start to sing is within the confines of a church. The songs that are done in here are usually devotion and worship songs that is meant to appease the god above. Most singers do it solo but in church, a choir is what usually sings for everybody present. Many songs in the middle ages where made and song to worship the lord.

Most popular though, is that it is performed as a hobby. Many love to sing as a way to enjoy themselves and derive pleasure and comfort from such an activity as this. The hobby is a profound activity as many different places carter to people who want to sing the night away, even if they do not have the best quality in voice and rhythm.

However, if one wishes to procure a profession from this, then a lot of preparation is in order. The time and devotion needed for a person to improve is just the tip of the ice burg. There are many factors that singers have to go through to truly make it and become a star. Lessons would be a step in the right direction to improve further.

The Europeans that enjoy classical music and the opera itself have considered that voices should be classified as a musical instrument. An instrument that many performers must hone and practice over and over in order to master it and become a very good opera singer. This also extends to composers as they have to take into notice what quality of voice should the character or singer have for the composition.

Voice classification was eventually created to identify vocal properties. This had become a from of evaluation and its conclusion is to designate the vocal types. These qualities are, but not limited to, the vocal range, weight of vocals and the vocal transition that lifts up the sound.

The beauty of music is truly a remarkable thing to hear. With the different applications of vocals lessons, a singer with talent can become a superstar in no time at all. The magic of singing is very much present in todays world and just as loved as a form of entertainment.
