There are different dancing styles across the world. One of those styles is bachata dance whose origin is the Dominican Republic. It is a type of a social dance that is closely related with bachata music. Bachata was originally danced in closed position in slow style and in close embrace. The hand placement differs in accordance with the position for the dances. Position of dances range from completely open to very close to open. Dominican social dancers are the creators of this style. It was created slowly over time and continues to evolve to this day. Today it is danced to faster music. This means that more footwork has been included. Original version of this dance style included soft hip movement together with a syncopation. Sometimes the bouncing is included or eliminated according to the type of music being danced.

People usually confuse this style of dancing with salsa due to their similarities. The similarities are what make people confuse them. A distinguishing element between the two is that bachata does not many turn patterns like those of salsa. When the movements are well executed it becomes easier for the dancing patterns to express various emotions.

The style has both its good and bad parts. The various sides are as a result of different evolutionary phases which it has undergone. One ugly consequence is that most leader dancers are either deciding to ignore or are unaware of the existing boundaries. As a result incidents of male leaders exploiting the style are slowly rising.

During dancing some leaders usually start initiating intimate contact with dancers of the opposite sex. What they forget is that engaging in bachata dance with someone does not mean they are open for sexual liberties. For instance it is common for male dancers to kiss female dancers on their lips even when such a move is not necessary. When this happens some dancers start keeping off dancing floors even when they previously enjoyed dancing.

To be good at anything a person must do it repeatedly. When in need of becoming good at this social dance style it is recommended to enroll for classes. In such classes students get a chance to be taught by seasoned dancers who have mastered the skills. Classes are about intensive sessions of practice which are attended by both sexes.

Trainers in this field aim to popularize and promote this dancing style. Students on the other hand get the chance to socialize with other people. The good thing about classes is that people can attend in groups or bring their partners and still enjoy intensive training. Students should work closely with their trainers so that their lessons are channeled according to their needs.

People train for different reasons. Others train for fun while others do it as for professional purposes. Those who do it for professional reasons can gauge their skills by enrolling in competitions. With proper training students should be able to feel the true spirit of this form of dance. This is a fundamental part that judges base on during competitions. As learners get better they get exposed to different proficiency levels as they advance upwards.
