Basic Information About Arnold Prank Calls And Other Similar Ones

By Catherine Wallace

Practical jokes or known commonly as pranks are tricks mischievously played on someone, to usually let their victim experience confusion, perplexity, embarrassment or discomfort. This is different from hoaxes and confidence tricks because the joke is told to victims after rather than talking them into handing valuables, like money, over. They are lighthearted normally and their impact is not lasting.

Their aim is in making their target feel foolish and humbled but not humiliated and victimized by using gestures with affection and humor to encourage laughter. Samples of these are the Arnold prank calls which the caller use some sound clips acquired from movies of that actor into fooling the other person to think the one calling them is the celebrity. They use for this digital applications where they only choose recorded sentences in talking like them.

Originally, these were done by imitating the voice of famous people during telephone calls which is easier since the callers are anonymous. Doing this have been harder since then because technology of letting you know who is calling you has been developed. These are known as caller IDs where individuals can now see the names of those calling them.

Pranksters could also use payphones since their numbers will not display on the device of the receiver but most people do not answer calls from blocked caller IDs. These have become less common now since payphones are being phased out slowly and fewer ones are left. Their goal of remaining anonymous is difficult to do with these.

An alternative is increasingly becoming popular which is utilizing some VoIP services that telephone numbers would not simply exist. Tracing calls from these are very difficult since they can pass through different servers and routers being operated by various entities from several countries. Though law enforcement agencies could trace them but the required effort, time and resources for the ordinary prank is too great.

Prank calls are increasing in popularity again with more people utilizing the internet with several online radio stations dedicate to this their content. They broadcast those submitted by the community and feature them at their channel. Software apps are there that allows them to share privately their pranks in real time with fellow users.

Sharing prank calls made personally is possible with the internet which allows them in developing a community of their own. They can share live these things or those they recorded previously and some systems even let listeners chat with pranksters while calling the victims. This supports discussion and giving suggestions on what they will say.

Be careful though when you plan to do this yourself because laws are there against the abuse of this joke that is considered a crime. You could not call emergency services then pretend someone needs help immediately or just talk to them random things. Calling with intent of threatening, abusing or harassing someone is a crime too.

Another commonly done prank considered a crime is when you contact law enforcement agencies to report a threat like a bomb. This could cause them to search the area or cancel an event happening there resulting to inconvenience for many people. Doing these acts might get you arrested after tracing you.
