How To Clean Your Faux Sheepskin Rug

By Joyce Howard

When you have a home, you want it to be as clean ever. This is why most people have come to realize that Faux is one of the best materials you can use in your house for the fluffiness of the material makes the house stand out. This material can be used as a runner on the chairs and on the bed. The only thing you have to know about Faux Sheepskin Rug is that it is hard to clean. Make sure you maintain it for if not so it starts to tuft and can be damaged.

If you do not want to end up with a mat that is ugly, or throwing away this beautiful piece, you need to make sure that you have taken the time to clean it up. This is the only way you can be guaranteed you will be able to maintain the quality of the mat. You might decide to do the cleaning, but if you do not know the best way to do it, then you will end up with a mess.

Before you commence your cleaning process, take the rug out and shake off most of the dust and other particles in it. If the carpet was used for the floor, then it is advisable that the shaking off be done outdoors. You do not want the dust particles settling on your furniture in the house. If the particles are many the other way of dealing with it is by beating it up.

After you have gotten the particle out, the next thing that you should do is to wash the product. Use cold water as you do this, the mistake that most people make is using bleaches and hard detergent. When it comes to the faux, you should use a mild product as possible since this is a sensitive rug that will react to chemicals.

To those people who use the machine to wash their clothes, you can also use it to clean your mat. Read the instructions on the material to ensure that you do the right thing. Before you place the rug in the washer, you should turn it inside out to prevent the tear and wear. Activate the washer after you have gently placed the rug in it and put on the right washing settings.

After the washing is over and one with, place the rug on a drying rack and let it stay there for almost a week. This is because the rug takes a while to dry completely. After it has been washed, it appears as matted wool spires. This should not be a cause for alarm as after drying the rug will regain its original fluffy nature.

If the runner is not dry at the end of the week, do not be in a hurry but let it dry on its own. After it has dried out completely, start brushing it. The brushing should be done is short strokes. A wire brush is best suited to perform this task well. The dog brush, on the other hand, is responsible for restoring the fluffy nature and breaking up the mat. With this procedure, there will be less shedding of the mat.

Cleaning of the faux sheepskin mat might seem like a lot of work, and the truth is that it is. At the same time, you have to be careful with the types of detergents that you use. However, when the rug is clean and dry, you will find that it was worth the effort.
