Fashion Trends On Faux Fur Throw

By Brenda Hayes

The word faux is originated from a French word which means false. This means to describe something that is only an imitation or is fake. Manufacturers for these kind of objects must attempt to create products that would resemble an original item as closely as possible. But there are some products which are only made to look faux but are really original, this is because of debates that happen concerning the over use of real animal furs.

Faux materials can be produced in many different ways. This includes finishes that are made with marble dust. Some types of stones are being finished with spatter dash, sponging, or feather streaking techniques. Fake furs became popular because of its promotion for the animal welfare, thus, faux fur throw is being produced as an animal friendly and an alternative to the original clothing.

These are most commonly used for clothing, but aside from that, its other uses are for fashion accessories, pillows and bedding, and also for stuffed animals. Real furs are thicker compared to fake furs. And because of the thickness, special sewing machines are produced for this type, but this can also be made by hand.

These furs in todays generation become increasingly popular when it comes to fashion designing. It became a mainstream for winter fashion, and are usually used for hats and jackets. Designers are looking forward to creating more and more designs of faux fur in their future collections. Most designers would rather use fake rather than the real ones since they can manufacture and control the aspects of production such as its volume and color.

There are many types of materials for producing fake furs. The usual materials that are utilized are polymeric fibers. These are processed and are dyed to get the desired result of its color and texture. Acrylic and modacrylic polymers are mostly being utilized types of polymers.

Acrylic and modacrylic polymers have very useful characteristics since these are very light in weight and these are springy. These are also resistant to smoke, heat, and sunlight and it cannot be easily attacked by insects because it can resist to mildews. It also dries quickly because of its low absorbency. Silk, mohair, and wool are also natural fabrics used for the production because it improves the look of the garment.

To be able to monitor the production, incoming raw materials should be inspected. Other features such as the density, appearance, pH, resiliency, and absorbency are also being tested. While the production is on going, from time to time, manufacturers are taking samples for them to know if ever they met the requirements.

Modern technologies have helped in improving the factors of quality production and this include its appearance. Some researchers have said that there will be more productions of these materials are to be developed. These materials have improved its quality, look, and lesser cost. New techniques for faster and more efficient production are being investigated.

Since there is a continuous growth of the demand of these products, it would not be easy for a person in distinguishing faux from natural. And these may be one reason for the increase in the demand. Lastly, the manufacturers must strive in producing products that are of higher quality but have lesser cost.
