Miracles are events that do not follow natural rules. For example, a person who is completely healed of HIV can be said to have received a miracle. Similarly, when a doctor tells a patient to prepare for death in a couple of days and the patient keeps living for years, the doctor will come to the conclusion that his patient received a miracle. There are similar situations in the Bible. Stories of miracles in the Bible are there to equip you and make you realize that there is no impossibility on earth.
Among the most astonishing ones is the miracle recorded in Mark 5:25-34. This was the healing of a woman with the issue of blood which had lasted for 12 years. This woman had gone through several medications but all to no avail. Finally, she saw Jesus passing in the crowd and determined to touch the hem of His garment.
The healing of Blind Bartimeus is another interesting miracle. Bartimeus was blind from birth and this made him resort to begging on the streets. One day, he heard that Jesus was passing by so he yelled and screamed unto Jesus to have mercy on him. Despite the discouragements from the crowd, Bartimeus got his healing on that day and his condition changed permanently.
The demon possessed man who said his name was legion was also cured by Jesus. On seeing him from afar, he ran to him and bowed down. This man had been rejected by his people because he often caused havoc and broke off chains that were used to hold him. Jesus took care of him and sent the demons to a swine.
Another astonishing wonder was Jesus walk on water. The purpose of this miracle was not to show off but to let his disciples know they could do anything he does by simply looking unto Him. This is true because He also beckoned on Peter to do the same.
Another miracle is the feeding of five thousand men with few slices of bread and two fish. This happened after Jesus taught the crowd and felt the need to feed them before letting them go. There was nothing around except five loaves of bread and two fish which were found in the hands of a little boy in the crowd. Jesus used this to feed the multitude and there were 12 baskets remaining.
One of the greatest miracles in the Bible is the raising of Lazarus from the dead. Lazarus was sick for some time before his death. Even after his death, Jesus still delayed for four days before going to Bethany. When Jesus went, Lazarus had already been buried so he ordered that he be removed from the tomb. After praying, Lazarus came back to life and the people around became more astonished.
There are other stories of miracles in the Old Testament that can also increase the level of one's trust in God. For example after reading the account of how the Israelites passed through the Red Sea and how Naaman was healed (in 2 Kings 5:14), your dependence on God will improve. God still does these things today; you are also eligible to ask for own share of His divine visitation.
